November 2, 1946 ~ July 28, 2022 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Tribute

In loving memory of Isaac "Sonny" Harris, 75, of Springfield, MA, peacefully passed away on July 28, 2022, after a long battle with illness. He was born in Greenwood, MS, to the late Isaac Harris Sr. and Willie Louise (Nichols) Harris.

Isaac was raised and lived his life in Springfield, MA. In his early years, Isaac excelled in mathematics and was a decorated Track and Field athlete and a football player for Trade High School. After graduating from high school, he began his long career as a machinist, working for local companies American Bosch, Pratt & Whitney, and Smith and Wesson. Isaac had a strong love for music from the start and dedicated his life to his pursuit of music and his family. He took pride in providing for his family and was a strong, loving, and supportive father. His hard work, knowledge, and guidance were his family's foundation.

He had a powerful voice and was a self-taught master bass player. He was a member of the Down 5 Plus 5, a Motown cover band. He toured the East Coast and Canada throughout his music career, showcasing his talents with many industry legends. Even with all his success in music, Isaac was noted saying he preferred his family life over the fast lifestyle that the music industry provided. He passed on his love of both family and music to his children. Isaac was an avid fisherman who could catch any fish, anywhere. He affectionately was called Gaddis after the fly fisherman show "Gadabout Gaddis". He shared this love of fishing with his brothers, sons, nephews, and friends, who will continue to honor his memory every time they cast a line.

Isaac was predeceased by his brothers, Nathaniel, Earl, Patrice, and Willie Harris. He is deeply missed by his six loving children, Robbin and Michael Jones, Timothy, Sonia, Assata, and Kashawn Harris, his grandchildren, and great-children. He also leaves behind the mother of his children and best friend Antoniette Harris, and his siblings Margaret, Betty, Sharieff, Gregory, Isaac, Karriem, Medina, Endia, Aaliyah, Hafeeza, Shaheed, Saladin Harris, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
