Jacob Manning O’Keefe, 22, of East Longmeadow, passed away on Thursday, September 5th, 2019. He was born in Charlotte, NC, on July 23, 1997 the son of Michael L. O’Keefe and Melanie S. Foust. Jacob attended high school at the Performance Learning Center in Charlotte, NC and successfully completed the Adult Career Pathways Program of the Springfield Adult Learning Center in 2017 where he graduated with his high school equivalency diploma from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). An accomplishment that he was very proud of! Jacob had a zest for adventure and the great outdoors, whether it be hiking and camping or fishing for the “big one” with friends and family. He excelled at the challenges of the outdoor leadership program he completed and was interested in becoming an outdoor educator. He enjoyed action sports like karate and especially skateboarding. Whether it was mastering his karate techniques, at a skate park testing out new tricks or boarding through the streets of New York City with his Dad and brother Alex, Jacob found that not only was each activity fun but it was also beneficial for his body, mind, and soul. Jacob treasured spending time with friends and family; he always looked forward to the holiday gatherings as well as vacations spent with loved ones. Most of all, Jacob will be missed for his lovingly big bear hugs, his beautiful smile that would light up the room and his witty humor that would make everyone laugh. Jacob is survived by his father Michael L. O’Keefe and his wife Victoria (Bradley) of Charleston, SC, his mother Melanie S. Foust and her husband Nathan of Charlotte, NC, and his two brothers Alex T. Gallipeau of Charlotte, NC., and Chance B. O’Keefe of Charleston, SC. He also leaves his paternal grandparents Pamela C. (Manning) O’Keefe and the late Lawrence O’Keefe of East Longmeadow and his maternal grandparents Harvey and Janice (McCall) Rosen of Cincinnati, OH. Jacob leaves his paternal aunt Kellie F. O’Keefe of East Longmeadow, MA, paternal uncle, Patrick J. O’Keefe of East Longmeadow, MA and paternal cousins, Sean P. O’Keefe of Westfield, MA, Carolyn B. O’Keefe of Chatham, MA and Jameson P. Billingsley of Chatham, MA. Jacob will be greatly missed by his loving and supportive family and friends in California, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, and South Carolina.
