Jean E. (Helberg) Carroll, a longtime resident of Hampden, formerly of Springfield, died early Monday morning, May 4, 2020 in the comfort of her home. She was born and educated in Springfield, a daughter of the late Harold F. and Margaret M. (Mullen) Helberg. Jean lived in Hampden for most of her life. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Raymond E. Carroll who died on November 11, 2008. Together they owned and operated Hampden Trucking for over 23 years and Carroll Equipment Repair for ten years. Prior to that she worked at Zero Corporation in Monson. She and Ray were active members of the Federated Community Church where Jean served as the Financial Secretary and Assistant Treasurer for numerous years. She leaves her loving son, Stephen R. Carroll of Hampden; three cherished grandchildren, Nicole L. Krstyen and her husband Daniel, Thomas R. Carroll and his wife Herlinda, and Jamie M. Carroll; and five great-grandchildren, Kevin Carroll, Azael Carroll, Ryan Krstyen, Tyler Carroll and Rashel Carroll. Besides her husband Jean was predeceased by her son Richard Carroll in 1971 and her grandson, Eric Kirk in 2005. A private graveside service will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Hampden. Arrangements are by the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center of Springfield.
