Jimmie Lee Ellis, 64, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born in North Carolina on May 7, 1954, the son of the late Judge and Eula Mae (Joyner) Ellis. He was a graduate of Greene County Central High School, Snow Hill, North Carolina. He also graduated from Springfield Technical Community College. Jimmie proudly served our country in the United States Army. He worked as a truck driver for Van Pak Company for many years. He was an avid player of pool and backgammon. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, James (Buddy), Ernest, Chris Thomas, and Calvin. Jim is survived by his devoted daughter Kimberlee Ellis and Gregory Brantley, and their son Gregory Brantley, Jr., all of Coconut Creek, FL., his former wife Bonnie (Bisineri) Ellis of Springfield, and four brothers Joseph Joyner of KY, Judge Joyner and his wife Carol of Springfield, Zachary Ellis and his companion Darlene of Agawam, and Tony Ellis and his wife Pam of North Carolina, and a sister Hattie Marie Ellis of North Carolina. He also leaves many nieces and nephews to cherish his memories. The memories of him are gently left behind to comfort family and friends. We love you and will cherish our time with you. The family would like to extend their gratitude to nurses Cheryl and Kim of Baystate Medical Center for their compassion and attentiveness during this difficult time.  Family and friends will gather and remember Jimmie on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 11am-12noon at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118.
