John M. Dunsmoor

John M. Dunsmoor, 81, of Hampden, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Wingate at East Longmeadow. Born in Springfield on January 25, 1937 he was the son of the late Ethelbert and Nellie (Prentiss) Dunsmoor. John proudly served in the United States Army as specialist 4 with the 6th battalion, 80th artillery in Korea 1960-1962, receiving expert and sharp shooting awards and honorable discharge. He worked for Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co. for 35 years as a printer and cutter operator. John also worked at Sunshine Arts and Bassette Printing. He was an avid bowler, pool player, and a Red Sox fan. John also enjoyed working in the garden and travelling. He always lent a helping hand and enjoyed helping people. John leaves his loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn (Melbourne) Dunsmoor; his daughter, Lynn Bokhari of East Longmeadow; his son, James Dunsmoor and his wife Linda of Hampden; his grandchildren, Pamela Dunsmoor of South Hadley, Aneesa Bokhari of East Longmeadow, Andrew Dunsmoor of Springfield, and Elizabeth Dunsmoor of Hampden; and his great-granddaughter, Isabelle Harold. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Helen Dunsmoor. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11am at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen St, Springfield. A calling hour will precede the service from 10-11 am. The family would like to thank all the staff at Wingate at East Longmeadow for their wonderful care and support to John and his family.
