John (Jack) E. Wojcik, Jr., of the Sixteen Acres section of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 25, 1943 to John E. and Doris (Monette) Wojcik. He was the loving husband of Patricia (Cox) Wojcik for 48 years. Jack was a lifelong Springfield resident and graduate of Trade High School. He was an Engineer with Hamilton Sundstrand/UTC Aerospace Systems for 50 years where he excelled in various leadership roles. Jack was an extremely loving, generous and kind husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. Jack enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, trips to Maine, feeding the birds in his yard, taking daily visits to Nathan Bill Park and coffee with friends. He was extremely proud of providing for his family and children’s education. Jack was very active in his community as a member of Greenleaf, Holy Cross and Outer Belt civic associations and volunteered in city council election events. He loved chatting with others and sharing witty, light-hearted jokes. Jack touched all that knew him and he was truly adored, loved and will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother Robert, sister Dorothy, sister-in-law Judy and his mother-in-law Lorna. Jack is survived by his best friend and loving wife Patty, his beloved children John (Jackie), David (Laura), Heidi, Tricia (Steve); grandchildren Zachary, Amanda, Jenna, Jillian; great-grandson Jeffrey and his loved dog, Little Joey. He also leaves to cherish his memory his brothers and sisters of the Wojcik family: Stanley, Stephen, Shirley (John), Jean and Judy, and of the Cox family: Sandra, William, David (Michelle) and Kevin (Nancy). Jack also leaves his special cousins Nancy, Susan and Rick along with a host of many loved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In Jack’s honor, his family asks that you remember him by performing random acts of kindness for others as he so often did throughout his life. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Jack’s life on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 2-5pm at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118, followed by a Life Celebration Service at 5p.m. Burial will be private.
