Joseph Richard Blouin, 84, known more by Richard, who was a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 in the comfort of his home. He was born and educated in Springfield, a son of the late Jules and Jeannette (Gagnon) Blouin and was a graduate of Cathedral High School Class of 1952. Richard enlisted in the armed forces serving with the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Iceland before returning home. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Most of his working career, Richard spent in the sales department of the retail industry until his retirement. He was a communicant of the former St. Joseph Parish on Howard Street in Springfield. He leaves two brothers, Roland Blouin of Palmer, and Victor Blouin and his wife Nell of Duncanville, TX; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sisters Shirley Trumble and Lucille Taylor. Family and friends may call on Saturday morning, November 3rd from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, in Springfield. A funeral home service will follow at 11:00 AM with burial and military honors concluding his service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd., all in Springfield.
