Joyce L. (Porter) Streeter

Joyce L. (Porter) Streeter, 92, a resident of Longmeadow and former resident of Enfield, CT and East Longmeadow, MA died early Saturday morning, June 17, 2017 at the Jewish Nursing Home of Longmeadow. She was born and educated in Springfield, the daughter of the late Reginald W. and Verna E. (DeGowin) Porter.  Joyce was employed in the late 60’s early 70’s with First Church of Longmeadow as its Food Director as well as operating a catering service business with her good friend for many years. She later was employed with the Meals on Wheels program in the City of Springfield for many years. Joyce more recently retired from AAA previously located on Fort Pleasant Avenue in Springfield after more than fifteen years as the Travel Director. She was the devoted wife and best friend of the late Lester R. Streeter who was a WW II POW and 28 year police officer with the Town of East Longmeadow. She leaves a son, Mark A. Streeter of East Longmeadow; three grandchildren, Julie Ryan and her husband Chris of East Longmeadow, and Matthew and Joseph Streeter both of Springfield; three great-grandchildren, Mikayla, McKenzie and Madison Ryan. Besides her parents and husband Joyce was predeceased by her son, Robert L. Streeter in February of 2015. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Joyce’s funeral which will be held on Friday morning, June 23rd at 11:00 AM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, with burial to follow at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker St., both in Springfield. Family and friends may gather on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joyce’s memory may be directed to the Rays of Hope, c/o Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut St., Springfield, MA 01199.
