Kenneth A. Burian, 88, of Hampden, passed away on Thursday morning, March 7, 2019 at the Wingate of Wilbraham Nursing Home. He was born in Westfield on September 8, 1930, the son of the late Alfred and Kathryn (Lyons) Burian and was educated in the Springfield School system. Ken proudly served his country in the National Guard and the United States Army from 1946-1952. He was employed with the former Springfield Indian Motorcycle Company and thoroughly enjoyed riding, racing and restoring Indian bikes. After its closing, Ken began a 25 year career with Mansfield Paper Company of West Springfield, and retired from Mass Mutual Insurance Company in 1992. Ken was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church of Hampden, and was a member of the Order of the Kentucky Colonel’s. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Ann (Jones) Burian of Hampden; two devoted sons, Steven Burian and his wife Linda of Seymour, CT, and David Burian and his wife Maryann of Belchertown; his caring sister, Anne Burnett of Agawam; and his four adored grandchildren, Shelley Burian, Scott Burian, Melanie Burian and her fiancé Joseph Parker, and Alissa Burian. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 27 Somers Road, Hampden, with Military Honors to follow. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hampden at a later date.
