Lawrence Joseph Reyome, 42, of Springfield, MA, passed away on May 1, 2017 after a life long illness. Born in Springfield, on February 24, 1975, he lived in Monson and West Springfield until 2013 when he returned back to Springfield. Larry was employed at several area restaurants during his life, and also worked at Six Flags New England in Agawam as well as several years at the Big E in West Springfield.  Larry was an active participant in Special Olympics for much of his life, until he had to leave the program in 2012 due to his illness. During his time with Special Olympics, he participated in a number of sports including Bowling, Ice and Speed Skating, Track and Field events and Volleyball.  He won over 300 gold, silver and bronze medals during his time with Special Olympics. He was also a member of the Global Messengers, a group of athletes who travelled to different schools and spoke about the advantages and rewards of being active in Special Olympics. Larry leaves behind his mother, Donna (Peck) Burnett of Springfield and his step-father, Clifford R. Burnett, Jr. also of Springfield.  He was predeceased by his sister, Cynthia A. Vanasse in 2000, as well as his maternal grandparents, Lawrence P. and Joan L. (Charbonneau) Peck of Monson, MA, who passed away in 1996 and 1990 respectively, and his aunt Michelle A. (Peck) Lester, who passed away in 1978, as well as many family members, friends, and teammates too many to list but who held a special place in his heart. Visitation will be at Byron Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA 01118 on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a burial at a later date in Hillcrest Cemetery, 32 Wilbraham Road, Monson, MA 01057. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Special Olympics Massachusetts, 512 Forest Street, Marlborough, MA 01752 or to Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, 627 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
