Lillian Margaret (Murphy) McMahon of Springfield, passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center on December 23, 2020. Lillian was born in Bronx, NY on August 22, 1925 to the late Francis and Katherine (Drew) Murphy. Following her high school education, she went on to marry the love of her life, the late Timothy James McMahon who predeceased her in 1964. Following her husband’s death she worked as a secretary at The Wall Street Journal for 26 years before her retirement. Lillian enjoyed puzzles, reading, but most importantly spending time with her family. Together Lillian and Timothy had three children who all sadly predeceased her; sons Brian McMahon who passed in 1987, Kevin McMahon who passed in 2011, and; daughter Maureen Hawbaker who passed in 2016. Lillian was also predeceased by her brothers Frank Murphy who passed in 2018, and John “Buddy” Murphy who passed in 1991. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Ann Marie McMahon of Chicopee; son-in-law, Kenneth Hawbaker of Feeding Hills; grandchildren, Alyssa Fortier and husband Michael, Lindsey Hawbaker, Timothy McMahon and wife Sara, Kristin McMahon and her partner Richard Caride, Stephen McMahon and wife Jillian; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Logan, Lily, Casey, Abigail, Ayden, Emilie, Allison, Aubriana, Thea, and Nora; and great-great grandchild, Lucas, and Thomas who is due in January; sister-in-law, Sheilah Murphy of Fort Pierce, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews. A private Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held for Lillian at St. Patrick’s Church in Springfield, and burial taking place at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Springfield. Arrangements have been entrusted to Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center.
