Lorraine Miller peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on January 25, 2023. She was born on December 24, 1932, in Jamaica, Queens, New York, to the late Rosebud and William Ceaser.
Lorraine grew up in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Next, she moved to New London, Ct. where most of her children were born. Later, she relocated to Springfield, Massachusetts for approximately fifty-five years. Prior to becoming a homemaker, Lorraine attended Willimantic State Teachers College, worked as a bridge tollbooth collector, and she worked in the banking industry for a short time.
Lorraine enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a very intelligent woman who was always up to date on current events and could have a lengthy conversation with you on any subject. Lorraine enjoyed spending her time reading newspapers, filling in crossword puzzles, watching the daily news, and soap operas. In addition, she loved watching Good Morning America, Fred Sanford & Sons, Lifetime movies, the Andy Griffith show, Cash Cab, and listening to Motown music.
Lorraine was the proud mother of 10 children. Her greatest love was for her family. All of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandson were proud to call her “Ma, BaeBae, and Granny”.
Lorraine is survived by her five loving children, Rosemary Harris, Linda Hurst, Diana Hurst, Darryl Hurst and Vincent Hurst; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
She is predeceased by her parents, William and Rosebud Ceaser; sister, Blanche (Betty) Esannason; daughter, Cheryl Ceaser-Irvin; sons, Hosea Hurst, David Paire, Steven Paire, and Glenn Hurst.
A special thank you to her aides, Diane Simmons, Jennifer Griffith, and granddaughter, Mohogany Ceaser. Their assistance made it possible for Lorraine to remain living at home by herself. She loved and appreciated them very much.
Lorraine was a kind, loving woman; she will be missed by all.
