Louis N. Grimaldi

March 25, 1923 ~ April 17, 2021 (age 98)


Louis N. Grimaldi, 98, a resident of East Longmeadow and formerly of Springfield, died late Saturday morning at Baystate Medical Center. He was born and educated in Springfield, a son of the late Joseph and Cristina (Balzini) Grimaldi. Louis along with his brother-in-law, Frank Ferris managed for many years the former Gulf Service Station located in the East Longmeadow rotary. He retired in 1985 after more than 25-years in the sales division for the Duc-Pac Company of East Longmeadow. Louis was an avid sports fan who enjoyed following the Celtics, Patriots and Boston Red Sox teams. He was the devoted husband and best friend for 69 years to his late wife, Phyllis (Nooney) Grimaldi who died in April of 2020. Louis leaves two loving children, Richard Grimaldi and his wife Peggy, and Debra Garvin both of East Longmeadow; two brothers, Francis Grimaldi and his wife Linda of West Springfield, and Joseph Grimaldi of Springfield; 3 grandchildren, John Garvin, Michael Grimaldi and his wife Maria, and Carolyn Kapernekas and her husband Anastasios; 2 great-grandsons, George Kapernekas and Nicholas Grimaldi. He was predeceased by his brother, John Grimaldi and sister, Beatrice Grimaldi. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, June 5th from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, in Springfield. Burial will follow at Baptist Village Cemetery in East Longmeadow. Contributions in his name may be directed to the Dakin Humane Society, 171 Union St., Springfield, MA 01105.
