Lourdes (Pabòn) Medina, 48, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 13, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Yauco, Puerto Rico on October 24, 1969 she was the daughter of Angel Pabòn and Carmen Santiago. Lourdes worked as a school bus driver for First Student Bus Company for 25 years. She was adventurous and loved to travel. She most recently went on a cruise to the Bahamas, swam with dolphins and stingrays, and went jet skiing. Along with her loving parents, Lourdes leaves her wife, Mireya Medina; her son, Goldo of Springfield; her daughter, Stephanie Gomez of NY; her step-father, Roberto D. Virola; her step-mother Maria; her brothers, Angel of NJ, Bryan and G of Springfield; her sisters, Jackie of Springfield, Jennifer of FL, Milagros of NJ, and Herminia of NJ; her mother-in-law, Matilde; father-in-law, Kuto; sister-in-law, Mabel; her sweet little “girlfriend”; her two dogs, Jay Jay and Nena; and several other family members and close friends. Family and friends are asked to join the family on Thursday, July 19, 2018 for a Celebration of Life Service at 10am at Byron Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St, Springfield followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 4-7pm. The family has asked in lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the funeral home to help with funeral costs.
