Marcia Jean Soja passed away on January 29, 2020. She was born to the late Atty. Stephen S. and Jean (Zaczynski) Soja on February 28, 1947 and was a graduate of the former Springfield Classical High School. Marcia received an undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts and earned a Master’s Degree in remedial reading from American International college and a 6th year Master’s Degree from the University of Hartford. She worked as a remedial reading teacher at the John F. Kennedy Middle School in Enfield, CT from 1973 until retiring in 2003. Marcia enjoyed travel in retirement and was a volunteer tutor for children locally in need of remedial reading. She was an accomplished piano player having graduated from the former Springfield conservatory of music, and was also an avid landscape photographer and showed her work at local hospitals and libraries. Marcia is survived by her brother, Atty. John F. Soja and his wife Sheila of Wilbraham; a niece, Alicia Levinger and husband Benjamin of Severna Park, MD; a nephew, Atty. Matthew Soja and his wife Emily of New Orleans, LA; two step-nieces, Cara Rice and husband David of Wilbraham, and Caitlin Cronin and husband Dr. Alex Berry of Longmeadow; as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews. All services will be private and handled by the Byron Keenan Funeral Home of Springfield.
