Tribute

Margaret Mary (Begley) Anderson, 77, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 after a long, courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Margaret was born on March 29, 1942, the daughter of the late James and Anna (Griffin) Begley. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School as well as the Elms College with a degree in education. Marge was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Church and later a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. Marge was a dedicated teacher within the City of Springfield Public School System and retired in June 2004.  Marge enjoyed spending time with friends and family, trips to casinos as well as the ocean.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her former husband Robert E. Anderson in 1987 and two brothers James Begley and Thomas Begley and his wife Bonnie and a sister Joan Clark and her husband Bill.  She is survived by her two devoted sons, Padruig P. Anderson and his wife Alexandra of Waxhaw, NC., and Robert J. Anderson and his wife Gail of Springfield, and her four adored grandchildren Lillian T. Anderson and Madelin C. Anderson both of Waxhaw, NC., and Nolan P. Anderson and Griffin M. Anderson both of Springfield. She leaves a sister-in-law Rita Begley of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. The Anderson family would like to thank Dr. Ali and Beth and the entire staff of the D’amour Cancer Center along with JGS Life Care Center and the staff at the Sosin Center for their care, compassion and support. Family and friends will meet directly on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 10a.m. for a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield. Followed by a burial in St, Michael’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 2-5p.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield.
