Marguerite V. (Precious) Gildersleeve of Springfield passed away a few days shy of her 94th birthday, on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at home with her family by her side. Born in Canada on June 26, 1924, and grew up in Exmouth, England, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Nora M. (Vaughan) Precious. Marguerite worked as a Teacher’s Aide for the Springfield School Department for over 20 years, retiring in 1986. She was an avid reader and enjoyed painting, gardening, knitting, crocheting, and crossword puzzles. Above all else, Marguerite loved spending time with her family. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Raymond E. Gildersleeve in 2011 and her son, Terrence R. Gildersleeve in 1963. Marguerite leaves her loving son, Michael Gildersleeve of Springfield; two grandchildren, Jennifer Duff and her husband Jonathan of Springfield and Philip Gildersleeve and his wife Kaila of Feeding Hills; and three great-grandchildren, Logan, Jase, and Nora Duff. A Celebration of Life Service for Marguerite will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11am at Byron Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St, Springfield with burial to follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
