Marie A. Mazze 96 of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born in Italy to Anna Cappellari. Marie was the oldest of nine children, who have all passed before her, namely Rose Russo, Lilly Saverese, Irene Effron, Anna Cambria, Josie Elia, Jack Lo Cicero and Louise Quindazzi. She immigrated to the United States in 1927. Marie was a trained seamstress who owned two Dry Cleaning Shops in the Carroll Garden Section of Brooklyn, New York. Marie cared for family-like friends in a boarding house she owned in the Park Slope Section of Brooklyn, New York. Marie was very proud of becoming a U. S Citizen in 1962. She was an avid reader who enjoyed teaching illiterate adults to read at a Brooklyn library. Marie was also predeceased by her loving husband Salvatore Mazze in 1991. She is survived by her children, Pietrina (Trina) Cardello and her husband Michael of Longmeadow, Ann Mazze, three grandchildren, Janine Cardello and her fiancé Scott Laudani, Laura Cardello Dickinson and her husband Sterling Troy Dickinson and Louis Opperisano; a sister Antoinette Muniz of NJ. As well as many nieces and nephews. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 1p.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, MA. Burial will be private in the Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. In lieu of flowers, you may contribute in Marie's name to Baystate Hospice.
