Tribute

Mary Anna (Shoum) Via, of East Longmeadow, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born and educated in Ware, a daughter of the late George and Nellie (Nieyadlik) Shoum and was a graduate of Ware High School. She retired after many year as an LPN providing exceptional nursing skills with several local hospitals in the area. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Luther Edward Via, Jr., in 2004, her son, Jesse Via and four brothers, John, Edward, Peter and George Shoum. She leaves five loving children, Sherri-Lynn Via of East Longmeadow, Doreen Via of East Longmeadow, Laymon Via and his wife Katherine of Monson, Cynthia Anzalotti and her husband Paul of Leland, NC, and Lori Via of East Longmeadow; a brother, Robert Shoum; and two sisters, Anna Malboef and Barbara Churchill both of Ware; twenty-five cherished grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Karin Via of Brimfield.  All services and burial were private at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Monson.
