Tribute

Michael T. Ames, 57, of East Longmeadow, MA, passed peacefully in the home that he loved surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Springfield, MA on February 25 to Natalie (Farrell) Cardwell.  He worked as a Fire Captain and a trainer at Eastman Chemical for 33 years. Mike was known as the life of the party and will always be remembered for his humor, smile, and ability to make friends wherever he went. Mike was married to the love of his life and best friend, Darlene (Grondski) Ames, for 27 years and was a proud father to his four daughters. He leaves behind his daughter Tabitha Bissonnette, daughter Brandy Aiken and her husband Ryan, daughter Ashlee Boyle and her wife Bethany, and daughter Abigail Ames and her partner Mike Rivest; grandchildren Nate, Cheyenne, Savannah, Lexi, and Bryce. Mike was predeceased by his mother, Natalie and his brother David Ames. He leaves behind his sister Patricia Monette and her husband Ken of Ware, his step-father Leonard Cardwell of Ware, along with several nieces and nephews. Mike also leaves behind his best friends known as the “Lush Brothers” and their families, as well as his four-legged friends, Morgan and Chip.  He will forever be loved and missed by many.  Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020 from 4 to 7pm at Byron Keenan Funeral Home located at 1858 Allen St, Springfield, MA 01118.
