Michael J. DeMaria

April 6, 1975 ~ July 16, 2018 (age 43)

Michael John DeMaria, 43, of Holyoke, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center after a long illness. Mike was born in Springfield on April 6, 1975, beloved son of John R. and Leslie G. (Rondeau) DeMaria. He graduated from Central High School in 1993 and received his Associates Degree from Springfield Technical Community College. Mike was a skilled technician in several jobs, including Lego and most recently at Fresenious Medical as a biomed technician. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Red Sox, and playing wiffle ball and interchurch softball. He also enjoyed going to car shows, vacationing in Vermont and Maine, and was always up for a road trip to the Berkshires. Mike had a profound love of books. He will be remembered by all for his incredible sense of humor, his infectious laugh, and his easy going personality. He was predeceased by his uncle Mark Rondeau, and his grandfathers, Leonard Rondeau and Joseph DeMaria. Along with his parents, Mike leaves his wife and the love of his life, Kimberly (O’Brien) DeMaria; his brothers and best friends, Scott DeMaria and his wife Sara, and Kevin DeMaria; father and mother-in-law, David and Christine O’Brien; brothers-in-law, Daniel and Jeremy O’Brien; and grandmothers, Margaret DeMaria and Jean Rondeau. Uncle Mikey will be missed by his beloved niece, Esme DeMaria whom he cherished and adored. He also leaves his lifelong best friend Dave Bamford; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mike also leaves his cat Gabby.  The family would like to thank the staff at Baystate Medical Center for their compassionate care. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 3pm at Byron Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St, Springfield, MA. Calling hours will precede the services from 1-3pm.
