Michael D. Prout, 67, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a long illness on Tuesday, January 14, 2020. He was born in Springfield on February 19, 1952, the son of Mata (Hamer) Prout and the late Richard G. Prout, Jr. Michael was a graduate of Agawam High School, Class of 1969. He worked for the United States Postal Service from 1978-2017. Michael enjoyed reading the newspaper, doing puzzles and was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. He also loved going to Riverside Park in Agawam. Michael is survived by his best friend and longtime girlfriend Tammy DeMars of Ludlow, his mother Mata (Hamer) Prout of Agawam, his three children Michael Prout, Jr., of Dorchester, MA, Taryn Prout of West Springfield and Cullivan Prout of West Springfield, a brother Richard Prout III and his wife Joanne of Agawam and a sister Sherrill Montessi of Agawam and a grandson Gabriel Prout of West Springfield and he leaves the mother of his three children Patricia Prout of West Springfield. He also leaves a large extended family including Florence, Kimberly and Sherry and his “postal service family”. Michael’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 10a.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 4-7p.m. at the funeral home.
