Nancy M. (Gurka) Taudel, of the Sixteen Acres area of Springfield passed away one day shy of her 80th birthday on Saturday, May 19, 2018. She was born in Chicopee on May 20, 1938 to the late Sigmund and Kazmiera (Zielonka) Gurka. Nancy retired as a senior clerk typist for the City of Springfield School System. She also created a network of friends during her 45 years of work with Avon. Nancy received her real estate license which she maintained over the years. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Springfield. Nancy was very active and had many hobbies, some of which included knitting, sewing, crocheting, and antiques. Nancy enjoyed watching Boston sports, especially the Celtics and Red Sox. She loved going to the family beach house on the Cape in Falmouth. Nancy leaves her loving husband of 58 years, Edward; her daughter, Dawn Davis of Westfield; her son, Gary Taudel and his wife Cynthia of Sturbridge; two sisters, Christine Masse of Chicopee, and Eileen Davis and her husband Ronald of Chicopee; four grandchildren, Sara, Michael, Timothy, and Alexis; and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her son-in-law, Brent Davis. Nancy’s family would like to thank all of the staff at Sr. Caritas Cancer Center and Wingate at Wilbraham for their kindness and care. A funeral home service will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 10am at Byron Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St, Springfield. Burial will be held at a later date in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
