Norma (Claflin) Spinks, 88, of West Springfield, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center. Norma was born in Lyme, NH, on April 7, 1932, the daughter of the late Willis and Florance (Dike) Claflin. She was a graduate of Hanover High School of NH, earned her BA degree in Education from the University of New Hampshire, and years later enrolled and graduated from Berkshire Christian College in Lenox, MA. Norma began a long career as a school teacher beginning with the Franklin New Hampshire School system, Willie Ross School for the Deaf in Longmeadow and Agawam High School (special ed). She was a member of Bethany Assembly of God in Agawam. Where she assisted in interpreting the services for the deaf. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her brother, Willis Claflin and her nephew, Jim Claflin. She is survived by her beloved husband, Lawrence Spinks of West Springfield, two nieces Nancy Promersberge of Wilder Vt., and Shelda Claflin of Merlin Or, and three nephews Wayne Claflin of Enfield NH, and Daniel Spinks of Chicopee MA. and Donald Spinks of Springfield, MA. Family and friends will gather and remember Norma on Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 1-2 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, followed by a Life Celebration Service at 2p.m. Burial will be private in Highland Cemetery in Lyme, N.H.
