Patricia A. Newton

Patricia A. (Schnopp) Newton, 72, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving children. Patricia was born in Pittsfield, MA., the daughter of the late Harry and Evelyn (Dupont) Schnopp. She was a graduate of Wahconah Regional High School, Class of 1966. Patricia worked for over forty years for the City of Springfield as a lunch supervisor and school crossing guard.  In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her husband Joseph J. Newton and a brother Thomas Schnopp and his wife Helen. She is survived by: three children, Brian J. Newton and his wife Kathleen of Chicopee, Debbie Marcelina and her husband Robert of Hebron, KY, Dawn Newton and Raymond Clouthier, III of Windsor Locks, CT.; siblings, Marjorie Koulgeorge of Springfield, Daniel Schnopp and his wife Joyce of Hinsdale, MA.; and eight grandchildren, Caitlin and Megan Quinn, Stephanie and Heather Marcelina, Michael, Christopher and Joseph Newton and Claudio Skala, as well as many nieces and nephews. Patricia’s funeral will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 9a.m. from the Byron Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118 Followed by a Funeral Mass at 10a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church. Committal services will follow in the Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Tinkham Rd, Springfield. Calling hours will be on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 4-7p.m. at the funeral home.
