Paul & Ruth Verteramo

Tribute

Paul Verteramo, Jr., 88, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away on January 11, 2022, the son of the late Paul and Regina (Avando) Verteramo. Paul was educated in the East Longmeadow School system and proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was a store manager at Food Mart for more than 30 years, and was very well liked and respected for his professionalism and fairness. After he retired, he worked at Sears in the Eastfield Mall. Paul enjoyed rounds of golf with his son Michael and his golfing buddies, and breakfast on Wednesdays with his longtime good friends.

Ruth B. (Stenberg) Verteramo, 86, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield on May 4, 1935, the daughter of the late Christian and Henriette (Greene) Stenberg. She was a graduate of Springfield Trade High School. Ruth enjoyed going to the casino, reading and gardening by her pool. Ruth was a dedicated employee at Friendly’s in the Eastfield Mall for decades. Both Paul and Ruth enjoyed working at the Eastern States Exposition for various events.

They are survived by four devoted children, Laura J. Ogoley of East Longmeadow, Michael P. Verteramo and his wife Robin of East Longmeadow, Patricia A. Santos of Bondsville, and Paula Babula and her husband Robert of Indian Orchard; seven adored grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and their two dogs, Emma and Molly. Paul also leaves a sister, Joanne C. Farrell of East Longmeadow; and Ruth leaves a sister, Joyce Macri of Springfield. Ruth was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley and Ronald Stenberg. All Services will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to T. J.
