Raymond S.F. Graham, II

November 1, 1943 ~ January 14, 2019 (age 75)

Raymond S. F. Graham II, 75, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born in Springfield, on November 1, 1943, the son of the late Raymond and Beatrice (MacLennan) Graham. As a child, Ray enjoyed spending every summer at his family home in Harwichport, MA. Ray proudly served in the United States Army as a member of the “Big Red 1” 1st Infantry Division during the Vietnam War (1968-1969). Ray distinguished himself in service and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Air Medal. After returning to the States, Ray was employed for most of his career as an insurance claims adjuster, retiring as a Senior Administrator at Stevens Roofing Systems in Holyoke. Although he had a wide variety of hobbies, he especially loved bike riding with his dog Hershey, fishing, tennis, skiing, chess, playing his guitar, and teaching his daughters to play many sports. Ray is survived by his wife Ellen (Cochrane) Graham of Springfield, daughters Sara Libbey and her husband Benjamin of Hampden, and Emily A. Graham of Springfield, two adored grandchildren Reed and Eloise Libbey. Ray also leaves his brother in law William Cochrane of Springfield and two nephews Colin and Nolan Cochrane. Family and friends will gather and remember Ray on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 9-10a.m. at the Byron-Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118. Following a Life Celebration Service at 10a.m., burial and military honors will conclude in Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield.
