Richard A. Cocchi

Richard A. (Rick) Cocchi, 49, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and educated in Springfield, on February 14, 1969, the son of Thomas Cocchi and the late Elizabeth (Smola) Cocchi and was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Class of 1987. Rick enjoyed playing baseball and soccer but his true passion was playing hockey. He was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, and was employed as an auto technician for many local car dealers, recently working for Curry Nissan in Chicopee. He is survived by his father Thomas J. Cocchi and his wife Antoinette of East Longmeadow; a son, Steven J. Cocchi of East Longmeadow; his brother, John Liga and his wife Kelly of CT; and his sister, Kirsten Madden and her husband Brent of Wisconsin. He also leaves a large extended family and many close friends. In addition to his mother he was also predeceased by a brother Steven E. Cocchi in 1987.  The Cocchi family would like to thank all the staff and Baystate Medical Center for the compassion and care extended to Rick during his final days. Family and friends will gather and remember Richard on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 11:45 AM from the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118 followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Church, 1900 Allen St., with Rites of Committal to conclude at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd., all in Springfield. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 5th from 2-5 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Steven J.
