Richard J. Hogan, 85, of the Sixteen acres section of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Baystate Medical Center. Richard was born in Springfield on April 11, 1932, the son of the late William and Mary (Edmund) Hogan. He attended the Springfield school system. Richard proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Richard was appointed as a Police Office to the Springfield Police Department on Feb 15, 1956 and retired July 1, 1970. He also was a member of the Springfield Police Association. Richard was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife Shirley (Either) Hogan on December 4, 2007, four brothers William, George, Thomas, and James and three sisters Teresa, Catherine, and Mary. He is survived by his four devoted children Mary H. Lataille and her husband James, Sharon A. Nugent, Kevin P. Hogan and Patrick M. Hogan all of Springfield, a sister Barbara LeClaire and her husband Donald of Springfield, and four grandchildren Brian Lataille and his wife Amanda, James Lataille II and his wife Julia, Jennifer Nugent and Brian and Stephanie Nugent and Gabriel, and a great-grandson James Lataille III.
