Richard F. Skowron "Moose", 83, a longtime resident of Hampden, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Richard was born in Springfield on November 7, 1936, the son the late Peter and Julia (Kaczmarczyk) Skowron. Richard was educated at Trade High School in Springfield. He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Hampden. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. Richard worked for Smith and Wesson for forty years and retired in 1995. He enjoyed spending the winter months in Arizona. He was also an avid road traveler encountering many new and unexpected places along the way. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his beloved wife Arline (Trombley) Skowron in 1981 and a sister Genevieve Annis. He is survived by his two devoted children Christopher J. Skowron of Phoenix, AZ., and Stephanie A. Skowron of Springfield. He is also survived by his feline friend, Cinnamon. Family and friends will gather and remember Richard on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 9 - 10a.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 27 Somers Road, Hampden. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hampden.
