Robert R. J. “Bob” Goodrow, 92, of Springfield, formerly of Sacco and Biddeford, ME, died early Tuesday evening, February 2, 2021 at the Renaissance Manor Nursing Home in Holyoke after a short illness. He was born in Springfield, a son of the late Arthur P. and Philomena (Martin) Goodrow. Bob was educated from the Springfield and Biddeford School systems, was a graduate of St. Francis of Assisi High School and later attended St. Francis College both in Biddeford. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Army. Bob and his wife Claire, owned and operated the former Beane Nursing Home in Sacco, ME, for over forty years until its closing in 1987. Bob returned home to Springfield in 2006 and was a devout communicant of St. Patrick’s Church where he volunteered his services as the custodian for many years. He truly enjoyed music, especially playing the organ and guitar as one of his favorite pastimes. Bob was also a humble and gentle man who was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone who may be in need of assistance. He was the beloved husband of the late Claire (Fleming) Goodrow who died in 1983 and leaves three loving siblings, Edward W. Goodrow and his wife Ellen of Springfield, Eugene F. Goodrow and his wife JoAnn of FL, and Norma T. Tourigny of Southwick; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and step-children. He was the brother of the late, Alma, Yvonne Homer “Al”, Helen, Lena and Arthur. His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 6th beginning with calling hours from 9:30 – 11:15 AM from the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial con-celebrated at 12 noon in St. Patrick’s Church, 1900 Allen Street, both in Springfield. A private burial will take place in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Springfield.
