Robert Walter Kupiec

Robert “BOB” Kupiec, 72, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed peacefully and far too soon, with his loving wife by his side, on April 14, 2022.  He fought a valiant battle against pancreatic cancer, and it is with profound sadness that his family releases him to his eternal rest.

Bob, will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 52 years, Susan (Parrow) Kupiec; his daughter, Karla Kupiec and her partner William Randall; two grandsons, Fenton and Rex Woodward; his brother, David Kupiec of Chicopee; and his dearest friends, Lynn Starr & Michael Lachapelle of Southampton, and Ray Pinkos of Myrtle Beach, SC.  Thanks to all the members of Team BOB, whose constant support carried us throughout his journey.  A special thanks to all of his medical team and hospice for their dedicated care, support and assistance.

Bob attended Chicopee Public Schools and played on the hockey and golf teams, which continued to be lifetime interests.  He was a graduate of HCC, AIC and The New England School for Financial Studies at Babson College.

He worked for many years in retail at Steiger’s Department Store before embarking on a long and successful career in community banking, where his operational expertise was often sought and where he was universally liked and respected.  He held positions at SIS and retired as a VP of Operations from People’s Bank and was often referred to as “Banker Bob”.  After retirement, he began working at The RiverMills Senior Center in Chicopee as a transportation coordinator and served as Treasurer for Friends of Chicopee Senior Citizens.

Bob was an avid wine enthusiast and was able to pursue that interest through world travel and by carefully paring wine with food for family and friends.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
