Robert E. O’ Donnell, 85, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Holyoke Medical Center from complications related to COVID. Robert was born in Springfield on August 12, 1935, the son of the late Francis and Marion (Lancour) O’ Donnell. He was a graduate of Holyoke High School, Class of 1953 and proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He attended Western New England College where he received a B.A. in Engineering and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Bob worked for many years at Package Machinery Company as an International Sales Engineer, traveling to many foreign countries in South America, Asia and Europe. He was one of the first businessmen to go to China when President Nixon re-opened trade relations. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara J. (Houle) O’ Donnell in 1998, his sister Frances Heisig and three granddaughters Amy Lord, Renee O’ Donnell and Jennifer O’ Donnell. Robert is survived by his three devoted children; Paula Brault and her husband Stephen of Longmeadow, Paul O'Donnell and his wife Barbara of Milford, NH, and Cynthia Lord and her husband Dennis of Wilbraham. He leaves his seven cherished grandchildren; Alexandra Brault, Meghan Skipton (Sean), Brian, Melanie and Jackie O'Donnell, Kimberly and Carly Lord and three loving great-grandchildren; Benjamin, Kieran and Sean James. He is also survived by his only nephew, Mark Heising of Newburyport, MA. There is a private Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Michael’s Church, East Longmeadow with burial to follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Springfield.
