Rodney K. Murdock, Sr.

Rodney K. Murdock, Sr., 93, of Springfield, formerly of Whitesboro NY, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Born in Fairfield, NY on October 13, 1925 he was a son of the late Byron and Agnes (Campbell) Murdock. Rodney worked as terminal manager and truck driver, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He liked gardening, going to the library, and, most importantly, was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather who cherished his family. Rodney enjoyed life and lived his to the fullest. He was predeceased by his second wife, Helen F. (Caffrey) Murdock; his third wife Annamae (Piersma) Murdock; his son, James Murdock; his daughter, Donna Record; and his siblings, Alfred Murdock, Richard Murdock and his wife Gloria, Adeline Brown, Evelyn Roberts, and Elbert Murdock and his wife Doris. Rodney is survived by his sons, Rodney Murdock, Jr. and his wife Betty of Springfield, Jeffrey Murdock and his wife Marcy of Greenfield, Richard Marsh, Sr. and his wife Pamela of Chester, MA; and Stuart Murdock and his wife Kathy of Largo, FL, his daughters, Dianna Gagnon of West Springfield, Laura Sternowski and her husband John of Springfield; and Blythe Sherman and her husband Randy of Springfield, his daughter-in-law, Kay Murdock; his step daughters, Karen Piersma & Barbara Piersma of NY; his sister-in-law, Alice Murdock; 27 of 28 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren. A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Rodney will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11am at St. Patrick’s Church, 1900 Allen St, Springfield followed by Rites of Committal in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 1-4pm at Byron Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St, Springfield.
