Roger “Sonny” Johnson, Jr., 81, of East Longmeadow passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 with his loving wife by his side. Born in Springfield on April 21, 1936 he was the son of the late Roger Sr. and Jeanne (Pomalaski) Johnson. Sonny served in the United States Navy Active and reserve duty from 1955 to 1961. He worked as a technician and a meter reader for Western Massachusetts Electric Company (Northeast Utilities) for 30 years. Sonny was a past master of the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid reader and loved to bowl. He leaves his loving wife of 27 years, Betty (Benway) Johnson; his two daughters, Kristen Kolb and her husband Michael of Monson and Karen McLeod and her husband Nelson of Monson; his two sisters, Judy Parker and her husband Gene of East Longmeadow and Sally Roberts and her significant other Bill Paris of Springfield; his five grandchildren, Alexandra, Lya Rose, Nicholas, Daniel, and Kayleigh; his four great-grandchildren, Brianna, Gianna, Autumn, and Julian; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours for Sonny will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4-7pm with a funeral home service at 7pm at Byron Keenan Funeral Home.
