Ronald W. Auger, 80, a lifelong resident of Springfield, died early Sunday morning on June 11, 2017, at Baystate Medical Center. He was born and educated in Springfield, and was employed as a machinist for the former Westvaco Corporation for over forty-five years. He enjoyed music, walking, and taking in the surroundings of Forest Park on a regular basis. Son of the late Homer and Florence (Freeman) Auger, he leaves his longtime special companion, Erlinda Rock of Springfield; four children: David Auger and his wife Lee of Houston, TX, Kathleen Auger Saso of Springfield, Thomas Auger of Gulfport, MS, and Dennis Auger of Ludlow; nine grandchildren: Jim Maynard, Lauren Williams, Katie Gherke, Megan Boggs, Nicholas Auger, Colleen Spallino, Shannon Auger, Dylan Auger, and Paige Auger; his sister Elaine Lucerino and her husband Joe of Springfield; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his son Gary Auger and his siblings: Raymond, Russell, David, Richard, and Gayle.
