Rosemarie Ann “Ro” (Onofrio) Fernandes, 88, a resident of West Springfield and former longtime resident of Ludlow, died early Thursday morning, July 5, 2018 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family at Monastery Heights in West Springfield. She was born and educated in New Haven, CT a daughter of the late Charles and Pasqualina (Armellino) Onofrio. Rosemarie enjoyed her career as a bookkeeper for several companies including Manny’s TV & Appliances from which she retired. She was a former longtime communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Ludlow. She was known for her love of life, her contagious laugh and her need to always help others. She was the beloved wife and best friend of 51 years to her late husband, Anthony J. Fernandes who died in 1999 and leaves four loving children, Gemmah F. Stone of Royalton, VT, Anthony L. Fernandes and his wife Sharon of Malvern, PA, Terry A. Vital and her husband Octaviano of Windham, NH, and Mary-Anne Schelb and her husband John R. III, of Belchertown; two sisters, Dolores Drumm and Helen Angelo both of CT, eight cherished grandchildren, Serah, Nathan, Eric, Jason, Vincent, Megan, Jared and Mason; three great-grandchildren, Parker, Taylor and Hayden; along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides her parents and husband, Rosemarie was predeceased by her siblings, Christine, Josephine, Mary, Mattie, Vicky, Tommy and Dino. Relatives and friends may call on Friday evening, July 13th from 5-7 PM at the Chapel of Monastery Heights, 110 Monastery Avenue, West Springfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning, July 14th at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church, 600 Jones Hill Rd., with Rites of Committal to conclude at St. Lawrence Cemetery, 280 Derby Ave., both in West Haven, CT.
