Tribute

Samantha C. Morrison, 31, of Springfield, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. Samantha was born in Springfield on April 5, 1989, the daughter of Charles A. Morrison III of Springfield and Giovanna (Morales) Arez of Springfield. Samantha was a graduate of Springfield Central High School, and later went on to work in the medical industry as a medical assistant. She loved music and dancing, but most importantly she had a deep love and commitment for her family and friends. She took pride in helping others and was known for giving the best advice. Samantha will be deeply missed by all she touched, and will be remembered for her heart of gold, tough yet loving nature, and making those around her laugh (even if it was at the expense of her own clumsiness). One of Samantha’s greatest accomplishments and joys in life was being a proud mom of boys to her four sons Jovan L. Morrison of Westfield, Gabriel Cotto of Westfield, Luis Cotto of Springfield, and Juelz Cotto of Springfield. In addition to her parents and sons she is also survived by her step-father, Felix Arez Sr.; brothers, Giani Morales, Darian Arez and Felix Arez, Jr.; sisters, Gerianna Morrison, Melanie Arez and Jenny Arez; paternal grandparents, Charles Morrison and his wife Jane of Springfield, and Patricia Morrison of Springfield; her maternal grandmother, Elba Bernabe of Chicopee; aunts and uncles, Lorri Lavigne and her husband Peter of Westfield, Kelly Piers and her husband Brian of Brimfield, Ive Gonzalez and her husband Rodolfo of Springfield, Julio Morales and his wife Marilyn of Chicopee, Kevin Herzig of Ft Myers, FL, and Daniel Herzig and wife Maureen of Newtonville; cousins, Kiara, Julio, Yulimar, Markie, Tristan, Damien, Brittney, Yerima, Alexandra, Isabella, and Gabriella; cousin and “partner-in-crime” Rebecca “Becky” Morrison; as well as many extended family members and friends. Samantha was predeceased by her maternal grandfather Julio Morales. Family and friends will gather and remember Samantha on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 3-5p.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield. Burial will be private. Due to COVID-19 all guests are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Please consider wearing red to Samantha’s services in her honor.
