Santos Rafael Del Rio, 70, of Camuy, Puerto Rico, as many of his family referred to as “Tio Raffy”, died Saturday evening, March 20, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois. Born and raised in Hatillo, PR, Santos moved to New Jersey as a young adult before settling in Chelsea, Massachusetts. As a young man, Santos was employed with Sexton Can and as a steel worker at OK Shank before finishing his career in residential real estate. Santos was well known by family and friends for his sharp dress attire, love of sports cars, and sense of humor. Beyond that, Santos was known by his children for his vision and thinking big. Although he was only able to finish middle school before working full-time, Santos excelled in real estate and flipping homes so well he was able to be self-employed and be his own boss. Most of all, Santos’ love for his children and grandchildren is what will leave a lasting impression on the Del Rio family forever. Santos leaves his wife and partner of over 17 years, Felicita; two sons, Rafael and Ryan Del Rio, his daughter, Marisa Del Rio; daughter-in-law Mari, and daughter-in-law Waldina;7 step-children, Francisco, Rafael, Milly, Frances, Maria, Melinda, Josie; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 5 surviving siblings; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends and family are invited to gather at Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen St., Springfield on Friday, March 26, 5:00PM-7:00PM. A funeral home service will be held on Saturday, March 27 beginning at 9:30AM with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay St., Springfield.
