Shirley A. (McIntosh) Hebert, 86, a resident of Hampden for 66-years, formerly of Springfield, died early Saturday morning, January 28, 2023 at the Life Care Center in Wilbraham. She was born and educated in Springfield, a daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha McIntosh and was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School. Shirley was an active volunteer for many years with the Ronald McDonald House, either preparing homemade meals or her hands on expertise with the Easter Basket program. She and her husband Emile loved summering in Rhode Island and were longtime members of the Westerly Yacht Club where they formed many lasting friendships over the years. Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Emile L. Hebert who died in February of 1996 and leaves a son, Donald J. Hebert of Milldale, CT; her sister, Genevieve Gibeau of East Longmeadow; six grandchildren, Kyle and Christopher Dziok, Chase and Toni Olstein, and Emma and Sophie Chadwick; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Kaleb Dziok; three sons-in-law, Karl Dziok of Maine, Larry Giasi of Hampden, and Scott Chadwick of East Hartford; as well as many nieces, nephews and longtime acquaintances. She was predeceased by her three daughters, Kim Dziok in 2020, Tracey E. Hebert-Olstein in 2020, and Wendy Chadwick in 2019. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday morning, February 2nd from 9:30 – 11:30 AM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, in Springfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 12:30 PM at St. Mary’s Church, 27 Somers Road in Hampden. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Shirley’s name may be directed to the Ronald McDonald House.
