Stephen C. Hupfer, 66, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. Stephen was born on March 20, 1953, the son of the late Oscar and Mildred (Higginbothom) Hupfer. He was a graduate of Commerce High School. He proudly served our country in the United States Marines. Stephen worked for James River Graphic in South Hadley for twenty years. Then went on to work for the Hampden County Hall of Justice. Recently retiring as maintenance supervisor. Stephen was a member of the Knights of Columbus, looked forward to cheering on the Patriots, spent many days fishing and loved to cook a good roast. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by two sisters Jane Remillard and Gail Kenny. He is survived by his former wife and caregiver Judy Shea of Springfield, and four devoted children Kerri Falvo and her husband Anthony of Springfield, Erin Lantaigne of Pompano Beach, FL., Kevin Hupfer of Springfield and Joan Hupfer of Greenfield, MA., and three adored grandchildren Nicholas and Mia Falvo and Madyson Lantaigne. Family and friends will meet directly on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 11a.m. in Holy Cross Church 221 Plumtree Road, Springfield. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 4-6p.n. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude, Excelsior International Academy, St. Michael’s Academy or Dakin Humane Society.
