Susan J. (Johnson) Kilburn, 90, of East Longmeadow, passed away on January 19, 2022. She was born in Springfield, MA., on March 22, 1931, the daughter of the late Francis and Norma (Colton) Johnson. Susan was a graduate of Commerce High School and Endicott College, Class of 1951. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in East Longmeadow. She also was an active member of the women’s fellowship at the church and she served as co-president. She was a member of Wesson Women’s Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered for over thirty years. She was a member of the East Longmeadow Women’s Club. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her husband of forty-four years of marriage, Nelson Kilburn and a sister Nancy Angers. She is survived by her three devoted children Beth Kipetz and her husband Donald of Sherrills Ford, N.C., Jonathan Kilburn and his wife Clare Doyle of Colchester, VT., and Nancy Celentano of Hampden, and she leaves four cherished grandchildren Major Alexander Kipetz and his wife Jessica, Jenna Kipetz, Ciara Kilburn and Brona Kilburn, and two adored great-grandchildren Elyse and Anya and she leaves her brother-in-law Donald Kilburn of Washington, D.C. Family and friends will gather and remember Susan on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 3-4p.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield. Followed by a Funeral Home Service at 4p.m. Burial will be private in Hillcrest Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church or the charity of one’s choice.
