Teresa Ann “Terry” (Diederich) Mullaly, 83, of Hampden, formerly of South Hadley and Springfield, died early Saturday morning at Baystate Medical Center. She was born and educated in the Springfield School system a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Leona M. (Laroche) Diederich and was a graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. After her graduation from nursing school, Terry began a career that spanned over forty plus years providing comfort and support as a RN at Mercy Medical Center from which she retired in the early years of 2000. Terry was a former communicant of Sacred Heart Church of Springfield and the beloved wife of the late William J. Mullaly who died in March of 1988. She will be greatly remembered by her family as an incredible woman who was the definition of a strong and independent in today’s world. She spent her idle time nurturing her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews valuable lessons in life, always being respectful to others and showing kindness to animals. As her grandniece mentioned, “She was a shoulder to cry on and a source of comfort during the holidays” a truly wonderful person. Terry leaves her brother, Paul Diederich of Boston; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides her parents, Terry was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Diederich and her sister, Linda Jorgensen. Relatives and friends may gather for a graveside service on Tuesday, November 16th at 1:00 PM in St. Ann’s Section of St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State Street, in Springfield. At her family’s request, there will be no calling hours and contributions in her name may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
