Vincent Michael Perrone M.D.,

June 8, 1928 ~ April 25, 2018 (age 89)

Dr. Vincent Michael Perrone, M.D., of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Vincent was born in Malden, MA., on June 8, 1928, the son of the late Vito and Concetta (Grieco) Perrone. He was a graduate of Litchfield High School, Class of 1947. Vincent also was a graduate of Boston University Medical School, and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He practiced medicine at Mercy Medical Center as a general surgeon for many years retiring in 2014. He was an avid biker reciting “Casey at the Bat” during his morning laps through Forest Park; he loved history, poetry, ballroom dancing, and air shows. He loved music, traveling to Europe and the NY Times crossword puzzle. He also loved a good joke, especially in the Operating Room but most of all…he loved his family. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by a son Michael Anthony Perrone; two brothers, Anthony and Vito Perrone; and a sister, Christine Parks. He is survived by his sister, Frances Lombardo of Deerfield Beach, FL; five devoted daughters, Maria Christina and her husband Michael of Ellington, CT, Jennifer Gaffney and her husband Michael of East Longmeadow, Carlotta Perrone of Wilbraham, Joanne “ Josie” White and her husband Daniel of Longmeadow, and Christina Perrone of Evergreen, CO; his former wife, Belle F. (Buccigross) Perrone of Longmeadow; seven adored grandchildren, Joseph and his wife Lea, Anthony, Vincent, Stephanie, Christina, Monica and Nicholas; and a great-granddaughter Rose. He also leaves a large extended family. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 2-5p.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield. Burial will be private.
