Virginia A. (Santaniello) Rae, 95 of Wilbraham, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Mount Saint Vincent in Holyoke, surrounded by her loving family. Virginia was born in Enfield, CT., on October 24, 1924, the daughter of the late Angelo and Josephine (Pattranaggio) Santaniello. Virginia was educated in the Enfield school system and attended the Springfield Community School for Nursing Attendants, after which she worked as a nurse attendant at Wesson Memorial Hospital. She later worked in retail for many years at Two Guys in Springfield. She also worked for the Springfield Public School System, retiring after many years of service. Virginia had a strong faith and attended St. Matthews Church in Indian Orchard for many years. She loved reading, playing cards and watching politics. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Howard G. Rae, Sr., her sister Mary Salvas and brother Joseph Santaniello. She is survived by her five devoted children Diane S. Brown and her husband Frank of Atlanta, GA., Howard G. Rae, Jr., and his wife Deborah of Enfield, CT., Michael J. Rae of Springfield, MA., Steven M. Rae of Springfield, MA., and John A. Santaniello of Amherst, MA., as well as eleven cherished grandchildren Dawn Cote and her husband Lance, Craig Richard, Curt Richard and his wife Laurie-Ann, Claire Warnock and her husband Marc, Sarah Haag and her husband Jonas, Michael Rae, Jr., Jennifer King and her husband Robert, Melissa Gilbert and her husband Jeff, Kati Sears and her wife Brenna, John Rae, Jr., and his wife Jamie and Alex Rae and she leaves thirteen great- grandchildren. Family and friends will gather and remember Virginia on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 4-6p.m at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, Followed by a Funeral Home Service at 6p.m. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 11a.m. in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker Street, Springfield.
