William J. “Bill” Twining, Sr., 77, of North Brookfield, formerly of Brimfield and Springfield, died late Tuesday morning, November 19, 2019 at Life Care Center of Auburn. He was born and educated in Springfield, a son of the late Everett C. and Mary (Foley) Twining and was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School Class of 1960. Bill was a registered nurse who spent over 20 years in the health care industry working at Clinton Hospital and UMASS Worcester Campus from which he retired in 2012. He retired from the Army National Guard after 20 years of service as a Staff Sgt., and was a veteran of Desert Storm. Bill was also an ordained minister who served as pastor of the New Birth Christian Church of North Brookfield for eight years as well as having a close relationship with the Christian Life Center Church in Springfield for over forty years. He was the devoted husband and best friend of his late wife Judith A. (Nelson) Twining who died in 2009 and leaves three loving sons, William J. Twining, Jr. of Ware, John S. Twining of Brookfield, and Thomas E. Twining of Indian Orchard; three brothers, Thomas Twining of Concord, VA, Everett Twining of Cayce, SC, and Michael Twining and his wife Theresa of Chicopee; eight grandchildren, Geri-Jean, Jesse, Ashley, Brittany, Ernest, Elizabeth, Stanley and Jonathan; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Sandra and Jonathan; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Zahradnik in 2005, and his brother Clifford Twining. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 27th at 12:00 noon at the Christian Life Center, 1590 Sumner Ave., followed by burial and Military Honors at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker St., both in Springfield. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM – 12:00 noon at the church prior to the service.
