Yvette T. (Harpin) Bernard, 73, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020 at the Life Care Center of Wilbraham, after a courageous battle of more than 20 years with cancer. She was born on August 23, 1946 the daughter of the late Paul and Lea (Landry) Harpin and was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Class of 1964. Yvette was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church Springfield and member of its Woman’s Club for many years. She was an avid card player, enjoyed trips to the casino, traveling, especially taking cruises with her beloved husband, family and friends. Yvette is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-one years, Paul Bernard of Springfield; and leaves three devoted children, Thomas Bernard of Frisco, TX, Kenneth Bernard of Springfield, and Russell Bernard and his wife Meredith of Feeding Hills; a brother, Rene Harpin and his wife Ann of West Springfield; a sister, Paulette Stromwall and her husband James of Springfield; as well as three cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Madeleine and Lexi. Besides her parents, Yvette was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Melissa Bernard. All service and burial are private for the immediate family. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date for Yvette at St. Patrick’s Church in Springfield. Contributions in her name may be directed to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
