Karen L. (Johnson) Hayes, 67, of Sixteen Acres Area of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Karen was born in Springfield on January 5, 1947, the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth (Pomeroy) Johnson. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and Bath Path College. Karen was employed by AAA Travel in West Springfield as a Senior Accountant and retired after thirty-one years of service. She is survived by her beloved husband Leonard Hayes of Springfield, two devoted children Brian Hayes of Springfield and Kimberly Hayes and her wife Isabel Leon of Dorchester, MA, a brother Peter Johnson and his wife Priscilla of East Longmeadow. Family and friends are invited to a gathering on Sunday, July,13, 2014 from 2:00p.m-3:3:30p.m at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center 1858 Allen St, Springfield, MA 01118, Followed by a Funeral Home Service at 3:30p.m Burial will be private on Monday, July 14, 2014 in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
