Dominick Anthony Izzo, 86, a resident of Longmeadow and former longtime resident of Wilbraham and Springfield, died early Wednesday morning, April 19, 2017 with his family at his side at the Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow. He was born and educated in Springfield, a son of the late Giuseppi A. and Domenica Minichella (Izzo) Izzo and was a graduate of the former Springfield Trade School. Dominick was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Marine Corps receiving his honorable discharge on December 5, 1953. After returning home he began a thirty-eight year career at the former Moore Drop Forge later known as Danaher Tool Company in Springfield from which he retired in 1993. Dominick was a member of the Springfield Adriatic Club, and the Wilbraham American Legion Post # 286, a former communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church of Springfield and St. Cecilia’s Church of Wilbraham, and recently attended Bethany Assembly of God Church in Agawam. He is survived by his devoted wife of 8 years, Lois A. (Richards) Tyler Izzo of Longmeadow; his two loving sons, Brian M. Izzo and his wife Ellen of Longmeadow, and Darryn D. Izzo and his wife Christine of Wilbraham; six grandchildren, Caitlyn, Colin, Julia, Anthony, Avery and Audrey; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides his parents, Dominick was predeceased by his first wife Nancy (Cleary) Izzo in March of 1994 and his four siblings, Anna Briotta, Frank, John and Albert Izzo. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday evening, April 25th from 4-7 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen St., Springfield.
